Luke Stewart is set to face Andre Galvao on March 26 when Strikeforce returns to the Save Mart Center in Fresno, Calif., for its seventh Challengers Series event.
Stewart’s manager, Nima Safapour, told MMAWeekly.com that both sides have agreed to the fight and bout agreements are forthcoming.
A Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt under Ralph Gracie, Stewart (6-2) has fought his entire professional mixed martial arts career for Strikeforce. He started out 5-0 before sandwiching a win over Jesse Juarez with losses to Tiki Ghosn and, most recently, Joe Riggs.
Galvao (3-1) is also a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. He recently signed with Strikeforce, but also remains under contract with the Dream organization in Japan. He submitted UFC veteran John Alessio in the opening round of the Dream Welterweight Grand Prix before dropping split decision to Jason High in the semi-finals.
Strikeforce first has a Jan. 30 event on Showtime and its sixth Challengers Series event on Feb. 26. Following the March 26 event, Strikeforce will once again fall under the watchful eye of CBS in April.
